{"id":194,"date":"2010-02-16T08:02:35","date_gmt":"2010-02-16T08:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saasoft.com\/blog\/?p=194"},"modified":"2010-02-16T08:02:35","modified_gmt":"2010-02-16T08:02:35","slug":"can-the-finance-tail-wag-the-quality-dog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hcse.blog\/?p=194","title":{"rendered":"Can the Finance tail wag the Quality dog?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.improvementscience.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Three_Currencies1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-203\" title=\"Three_Currencies\" src=\"http:\/\/www.improvementscience.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Three_Currencies1-300x295.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"222\" \/><\/a>Money is the &#8220;fuel&#8221; that all organisations need to survive because all endeavours incur costs.\u00a0It is the\u00a0<strong>flow<\/strong> of money that is important &#8211; static money\u00a0is just a number.\u00a0 Money is used to buy time &#8211;\u00a0more specifically LIFE-time.\u00a0 We trade our life-time for money which we then use to buy the goods and services\u00a0that we need to survive\u00a0in the modern world.\u00a0 These goods and services\u00a0are delivered by processes that require people&#8217;s\u00a0time\u00a0to design,\u00a0implement,\u00a0operate and improve.\u00a0 So we all want\u00a0the best value-for-money that\u00a0we can get; the best value-for-lifetime.\u00a0So what happens when the flow of money is constrained?\u00a0Value, Lifetime and Money are interdependent &#8211; restrict the <strong>flow<\/strong> of any of the three and all three\u00a0slow down.\u00a0It is inevitable.\u00a0With this perspective it does appear that the finance tail can wag the quality dog; and the lifetime tail can wag the quality dog too.
